Stephen Bolen joined team Steffes at Grand Forks East a little over a year ago as a welder II in our frame weld area for our skid product line. He has since cross trained in assembly, break press, saw, paint and blast booth and is now the Weld Lead for frame weld.
In this role, Stephen oversees about six welders at any given time producing the steel frames that become the base of each of our skids. He is responsible for assigning each welder the appropriate amount of work to make sure that the frames are being built correctly and on time according to the orders we have.
Stephen worked at a weld shop before coming to Steffes. He says that welding is something that he has been passionate about for a long time.
“I’ve always been drawn to welding. I love building stuff and working with my hands. It’s a good feeling to be able to feel like you’ve really accomplished something at the end of the day and you can see what you’ve built.” says Stephen.
“I have enjoyed working at Steffes because I have opportunities for advancement. In the short time I’ve been here so far I’ve already learned how to operate in the different areas of the floor and taken on leadership.”says Stephen. “I also like that the work doesn’t get monotonous. There’s always a new challenge.”
“Steffes is different than a lot of companies because management takes interest and are directly involved in the business.” said Stephen.
In his free time outside of work, Stephen enjoys spending time with his family. “Family and spending time with them is everything to me.” he said.
