Comfort Control Relay Panel

The Steffes Comfort Control Relay Panel (CCRP) is a device used to control just about any electrical loads. When the CCRP receives a control signal, either from a time clock, the power company's meter, a receiver switch, etc., it will open or close its relays to control devices to which they are connected. At the same time it will send a power line carrier (PLC) signal through the existing power lines to control devices in remote areas. When the PLC transmitting system in the CCRP is activated, the control signal can reach an unlimited number of PLC receivers served by the same utility distribution transformer. Common loads controlled with the CCRP include electric baseboards, water heaters, floor and ceiling cable, hot tubs, clothes dryers, ETS heaters, etc.

Features

  • Direct Wired Load Control: The CCRP has nine relays to control just about any electrical circuits. When the CCRP receives the utility control signal, the 30 Amp, DC held relays respond by controlling the devices wired directly to them.
  • Wireless Load Control: If the PLC transmitter in the CCRP is utilized, control signals are sent through the power lines servicing the installation to remote devices. The Steffes 1000, 2000 and 2100 series room heating units, Comfort Plus system, and other controllable devices incorporating the Steffes PLC receiver respond to this signal. The PLC feature frees up the relays for control of devices requiring direct load control wiring.
  • Wireless Automatic Charge Control and Room Temperature Set Back: The PLC transmitter in the CCRP is capable of sending outdoor temperature information for automatic brick core charging of an unlimited number of Steffes 1000, 2000 and 2100 series room heating units as well as Comfort Plus systems with the addition of an outdoor sensor. It can also send a signal for automatic room temperature setback for times when the area heated by room heating units is unoccupied. An external signaling device is required for this.
  • Multiple Rate Strategy Control Signals: The CCRP is capable of accepting up to six (6) separate power company control signals and operating its relays independently. This feature works well in areas using multiple rate strategies in the same application.
  • Peak Override Module (Optional - Power Company Permitting): The peak override module is an optional feature that allows the use of normally controlled devices, such as water heater, during an on-peak control time. It allows up to 6 circuits to be overridden in 60 minute intervals. This feature is available in areas where the utility utilizes Time-Of-Use metering and control strategies.
  • Control of Fluid Regulated ETS Systems: In a special ordered factory configuration, the CCRP can also provide peak and automatic charge control for older style fluid regulated ETS systems (i.e. Steffes "S" series room heaters and most European models).
